The Power to Prevent Contracting Ebola is in Your Hands!

Ebola Virus has saturated the recent news headlines producing public fear of contracting this virus. However there is no reason to start panicking, Dr. William P. Sawyer, Infection Prevention Specialist, says “if you understand the role your hands play in the contraction and spread of infections”. He wants you and your families to understand the fact that the power to prevent Ebola lies in YOUR hands! Healthcare workers are the primary victims of Ebola at this time, much like the SARS experience in Toronto.

The CDC explains how the only way to contract the virus is “through direct contact with blood or bodily fluids of an infected person or through exposure to objects (such as needles) that have been contaminated with infected secretions. “However it is self inoculation of contaminated bodily fluids (mucus, respiratory droplets and other bodily fluids) that causes you to contract the Ebola virus”.

The power to prevent is in YOUR hands!

Follow Henry the Hand’s 4 Principles of Hand Awareness:

1. Wash your hands when they are dirty and BEFORE eating
2. DO NOT cough into your hands
3. DO NOT sneeze into your hands

4. Above all, DO NOT put your fingers into your eyes, nose or mouth

These 4 Principles of Hand Awareness are guidelines forpreventing you and others from contracting Ebola and many other respiratory and gastro-intestinal viruses. Handwashing at key times and preventing self-inoculation by not touching your TZONE (mucus membranes of the eyes nose and mouth) can save your life!

We are asking you to become a messenger and help “spread the word not the germs” to your family and community about how they can protect their families from Ebola!
