With the COVID-19 Virus leaving a lot of schools uncertain of how to proceed and get back in the classroom- we are here to help! Henry the Hand is excited to help your school start back with a “new normal” and here we have some tips and products to help your staff, students and families stay healthy!
- Infection Prevention School Partnership
This Infection Prevention School Program designed to train students, faculty, and staff members to be more “Hand Aware” in order to prevent the spread of respiratory and gastro-intestinal diseases within the school. The goal is to create a partnership in Infection prevention in your school by instituting this Program. A school will see a decrease in the incidence of absenteeism due to illness if they maintain the partnership with this Program. A healthy student is a better learner.
What is it: Hand Awareness is defined as hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and cross contamination awareness. The program is not limited to handwashing. It is about Hand Awareness, which is also described as knowing where your hands are and what they are doing at all times. This science based multi-media and multi-sensory behavior modification program will benefit the health of every student and staff in the school. It includes behavior change tools and presentations to teach students and staff how to practice better hand awareness and have better hand hygiene.
Infection Prevention Tool Kits
Infection Prevention School Kit
What is it: Dr. Will Sawyer created the School Program based on principles from the Johns Hopkins Partnership 2000 School strategies, which includes the family, school, and community working together to benefit the student. Designed with a lesson plan curriculum, including assistance with presentation, this School Program trains students, faculty, and staff members to prevent the spread of respiratory and gastro-intestinal infections.
Why we recommend it: This multi-media and multi-sensory program will benefit the health of every student and school employee. Implementing the innovative reinforcement techniques and tools of this Program into your school’s culture develops life long practice of the 4 Principles of Hand Awareness that have been endorsed by the AMA and AAFP.
Infection Prevention School Kit for The Classroom
The classroom kit is a smaller version of the School Program Kit. It is based on the same principles from the Johns Hopkins Partnership 2000 School strategies. It has a lesson plan curriculum and assistance with a classroom presentation, including instructions.
Why we recommend it: This multi-media and multi-sensory program will benefit the health of every student and school employee. Improve Family Health through promotional packets
What is it: Promotional packets include: a short description of how to stay hand healthy, a few stickers and bookmarks and other products to help teach family how to stay healthy.
How to use it: Hand out a packet for each student to take home and share with their family or household members.
Why we recommend it: Giving each student a packet of these items to take home increases the chances of their home staying healthy through showing them the importance the role of hands play in keeping people healthy. If their home is more aware and hand hygienic, the student will in turn be healthier too.
What is it: A person within your organization can dress up in the Henry the Hand suit and use it during a handwashing or hand awareness presentation!
Why we recommend it: No one will forget the inflatable Henry the Hand costume after he visits your school, hospital, facility, or community event. All you need is to find a willing volunteer who is coordinated to suit up who is between 5’3″ and 5’10” tall. And an assistant to help them suit up and to negotiate the doorways and crowds.
